We
are a voluntary association and only need event passes plus expenses
for
travel, materials, public liability insurance etc. We do not hire out
equipment
as it is only suitable for use by our trained volunteers. On the other
hand if you want to make your own we can provide advice or give
training
workshops. The Children's Pedal Generators need a crew of between three
and six depending on the length of the event. We prefer to use our own
trained volunteers where possible. For weekday events at schools it is
possible to operate with only one or two of our people provided we can
add on local parents or teachers for safety supervision.
Providing energy, support structures and lantern
workshops
for a Lantern Procession needs from three people upwards depending on
size;
a crucial aspect is the renewable energy collection so adequate time
and
space for setting up solar panels and possibly wind generators is
required.
At least a couple of days should be allowed for construction, and a day
after the procession for energy replacement.
At the moment we have regular volunteers from all over
the UK though about half are from Reading and London. Our core people
are
CRB checked and we have Public Liability cover up to £5M.
